Dashing through Digital Accessibility - Creating an Inclusive Workplace

The WAM programme are delighted to be having an in-person employer event focused on digital accessibility in the workplace. On the day, we will look at the past, present and future of assistive and accessible technology and explore ideas on universal design in the area of technology with a particular focus on sustainability.

Event Information

According to the 2022 census, over 1.1 million people (22%) in Ireland reported having a disability or experiencing at least one long-standing condition. While approximately 346,000 (34%) individuals reported being employed, more than 303,500 also reported having difficulty working or accessing education. In combination with a push towards digital media and connection, it is important to consider your company’s own internal practices. This event will explore assistive technology and digital accessibility and how you might utilise resources already present in your organisation to create a more inclusive digital ecosystem.

The format of the event will feature two expert speakers on this topic (Microsoft & Enable Ireland) and include a presentation from a local Irish employer (ESB) who will showcase how they are implementing an inhouse initiative into their organisations disability policies and practice.

The presentations will be followed by a collaborate feedback session lead by AHEAD to introduce our Inclusive Employer Framework which is currently in development. This session will not only inform you about the ongoing project but will allow you to ask questions and suggest key topics for the development of the framework.

The day will complete with lunch and an opportunity to network.
