At Building the Future we will have three hybrid workshops taking place. Each of these workshops will be 40 minutes long and they will explore some of the most relevant and important topics relating to beginning your career as a disabled graduate or student. Those who will be attending Building the Future in person will be able to view the workshops live and those attending virtually will recieve a Zoom link to the workshops in advance.
13:00 How to Network Successfully - TBC
This workshop will introduce how to present yourself to potential future business contacts. Being able to introduce yourself to new contacts and build relationships with people in your career can be hugely helpful.
13:40 Building a Personal Brand
Salesforce will be presenting this workshop on how to create your own brand as a professional. Having a brand differentiates potential candidates from each other. Brands work by showcasing the unique features of the person, making promises about their performance, and building associations with their network. In a professional setting, your goal is often to sell yourself. In this way, it can be helpful to reflect on what you offer to a business as a candidate for a job. To build your brand, you need a strong sense of who you are, what you can provide to a workplace and what makes you different from the other candidates.
14:20 Disclosing a Disability at Work
Disclosure means informing someone or to make the information known, in this case to the employer or your college, about your disability, specific learning difficulty or mental health difficulty. Hannah Kelly, AHEAD's Student and Graduate Engagement Officer, will be giving this workshop.
