Lightning Session

Each presentation during the Lightning Session will be six minutes, using a maximum of six slides. These rapid fire presentations will serve as a great introduction to projects, resources and approaches to inclusive education design across the sector.  

Raising awareness of dyscalculia to support teaching and learning

The presentation showcases the Raising Awareness Around Dyscalculia (RAAD) project which is a collaboration between the Munster Technological University Cork support services,  Mathematics Department, and student partner to develop best practice in supporting higher education students with dyscalculia, including resources that can be used in higher and further education.

Using film within an inclusive approach to delivery in graduate education: a too often ignored gap in the UDL scholarship?

Film is an intuitively rich way to offer learners a pathway into course content.  If offers an accessible route into important concepts being taught.  Film can also be key when it comes to exploring learners’ affective connection to the course content and to encouraging students to develop intimate lived perspectives on their learning.  The session will address the integration of film within a UDL reflection on pedagogy

The Hobby Shed – our Safe Haven for co-production in a shared virtual teaching and learning space

The Hobby Shed – our Safe Haven for co-production in a shared virtual teaching and learning space. A series of online videos and tutorials from National Learning Network Athlone. It is a virtual safe haven for students with disabilities and staff to showcase their talents and hobbies. At a time of strict public health restrictions, The Hobby Shed emerged as another support mechanism to encourage student engagement while learning remotely.
