Lightning Session

Each presentation during the Lightning Session will be six to eight minutes, using a maximum of six slides. These rapid fire presentations will serve as a great introduction to projects, resources and approaches to inclusive education and learner support across the sector.

In an attempt to examine the universities policies and practices on institutionalising students´ diversity and their inclusion in higher education, the study highlights the strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities of institutionalising students´ diversity and their inclusion as perceived by the 30 European universities that responded voluntarily to an online survey.

This talk will cover the process involved in designing a university template for Canvas. This includes design strategies, reasons for choosing optional versus default, research in the area, the results of the promotion to all courses, and focus group results on the experiences of staff and students.

Increasing awareness to embed inclusion: The Universal Design in Education Project

The Universal Design in Education Project aimed to increase awareness of universal design practices in DCU. This was achieved through:

  1. Building a webpage of UDL resources for staff and students,
  2. Showcasing staff implementation of UDL in a suite of videos, and
  3. Organising UDL workshops for staff.
